I've got an 86 Suzuki Savage 650, and running into a few problems. Trying to repair the myself, and I'm fairly new to motorcycle repair.

Several Problems:

1) Crease/Gouge in the gas tank left side, about 4 inches long starts as a crease ends in a gouge where a rock kissed it.

2) Handlebars, left one is bent down and in, the mirror on that side is almost useless because of this.

3) Gas Tank is rusty because it sat for almost 8 years with gas in it.

4) Having problems locating just the filter screen for the gas tank, mines got some tears it in and a local shop tried to tell me I'd have to replace the tank??

5) Rust specks showing up on the crome rims, best way to repair it without damaging the rest?

6) Both my rear turn signals were busted while back, bought a repair set a few years ago and now the signals are coming off the metal grips where they are mounted on the bike.

7) Biggest issue, even with a brand new charged batter, the motorcycle won't keep charging the motorcycle. I haven't bothered to take it to a shop, fearing the repair bill for that.

Anyone care to pass a few suggestions my way. Giving the problems, to make it drivable and legal, would it be worth messing with. Or just buying a new bike?

Also the bike has less than 22k on it.
